Aside from the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s another issue that most of us have to deal with- B O R E D O M

Though we are blessed to be called to stay at the comforts of our own home, thinking about the number of days we have to spend in the four corners of our respective house is not an easy feat. We are all victims of the circumstances and we can’t do anything but to follow the enhanced community quarantine regulations. After all, this is for the common good of everyone of us.

So, instead of whining or complaining against the government and seeing all the negativity surrounding the world today, why not use your spare time to pray for this pandemic to come to an end and do something productive?

If you have the luxury to use WiFi or internet connection in general, there are millions of ways to occupy your short attention span. Aside from using your precious Internet to create fun and hilarious TikTok videos, you can also browse online classes from different legitimate websites, earn certificates, and learn valuable skills.

For today, let’s talk about the websites I actually used: e-TESDA, Coursebank, and Shaw Academy

e-TESDA

About TESDA Online Program

“The TESDA Online Program (TOP) is an open educational resource that aims to make technical education more accessible to Filipino citizens through the use of information and communication technologies. TOP provides an effective and efficient way to deliver technical education and skills development services to a broader audience/wide range of users/all learners at a lesser cost.”

TESDA is the primary government agency offerring technical vocational (TecVoc) coruses in the Philippines. The agency want to extend their help to Filipinos who are having a hard time enrolling in formal or face-to-face TESDA classes. Thus, TESDA opt to look for ways to reach more Filipinos and offer high-quality courses through the e-TESDA program.

The online courses are crafted by TESDA’s pool of professional and highly-qualified instructors with years of experience in the fields they’re in. Thus, students of online courses are guaranteed to receive the best instructions and education wherever they are.

Here are some of the course industries available in e-TESDA:

I’ve tried e-TESDA before but I end up not finishing the course I enrolled in. But, now that I have too much time to spare, I will take another online class and I’m in the process of creating an updated account as I’m writing this blog post.

Coursebank

It was very recently when I discovered Coursebank when I stumbled upon a scholarship they’re offering. I submitted my application earlier and still waiting if I made it to the list of scholars. But they do have free online courses from reputable organizations.

Some of the courses available in CourseBank are Data Visualization Fundamentals, Computing in Python, SQL for Business Users, Data Management Fundamentals, Basic Project Management, Dashboards and Drill-Down Analytics, Pagtuturo sa Panimulang Pagbasa sa Filipino Gamit ang Four-Pronged Approach, Effective Reading and Language Instruction (Domains of Literacy in the K-12 Curriculum) and more.

Shaw Academy

Even though enrollment in Shaw Academy is not free, you can score great deals from MetroDeal or register through the website’s free 4-week trial.

Mission

“Our mission is to empower individuals with the skills they need and follow any career path they seek. With a flexible education model, practical skills & global qualifications, our students are positioned for jobs, entrepreneurship, career changes & competence in the real world. Shaw Academy’s personalised education makes learning an integral part of life.”

There are hundreds, if not thousands of free and affordable online learning websites available right now. Thus, it’s easy to shower ourselves with endless information and skills that we can use and add to our long list of “skills Internet taught me.”

Stay safe and keep on learning!

What are your favorite online learning websites?
